His Holiness Pope Tawadros II prays the Mass of the Solemnity of two bishops in the St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbasia
His Holiness Pope Tawadros II prayed this morning, the mass prayers of two new bishops, in conjunction with the Coptic Orthodox Church’s celebration of one of the end of the Great Lent, in the Cathedral of Abbasia.

– His Eminence Anba, the Bishop of the Eparchy of Naja Hammadi and its minions.
At the beginning of the sermon, His Holiness the Pope said: “I apologize for sitting while offering meditation this morning for some pain in my back, and I request your prayers to alleviate these pains.” “
His Holiness congratulates the two new bishops and the four bishops who were inducted yesterday, their Eminence: Anba Thomas Bishop and President of the Virgin Mary’s Cathedral and Archangel Michael Balbahansa, Minya Province, Anba Michael Bishop of Halwan Eparchy and Co-ministers, Anba Chosef Bishop of the Diocese of Namibia and Co-minaries, Africa, and Anba Axios Eparchy of Mansoura and Co-minions.
Then His Holiness reflected on the holy fast that begins tomorrow, and said that fasting is summarized in three words:
Charity: is the act of mercy by which life good for man begins, and it must come from a heart brimming with mercy and is the open and lasting door to eternal life, and it must be done in secret and in love in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer: It is meant for spiritual solitude, as fasting should be an opportunity to increase the time a person spends with Christ, especially with what the Church offers us in this holy period of sanctities, readings and mathematics, to help us spend more time with Christ, so strive to change your daily routine during fasting to spend more time with Love Jesus and talk to him about everything.
Fasting: the day in which the day is divided into a period of interruption from food that helps a person to regulate himself, and a period when we eat vegetarian food to remind us of human food before falling, through the interruption a person learns to say: “No” in front of the line as he refrains from food, and the vegetarian food period prepares our minds and our longings for paradise and heavenly life, and the idea of fasting Generally, it’s giving up on the floors and yearning for the heavens.
And on the work of the Father Bishop, His Holiness the Pope talks about “Who is a Bishop? “.. His holiness put three signs for the life of Father Bishop:
1 – A Warehouse for Contemplative Parenting: As our Lord Jesus Christ was merciful in all his dealings and his heart is generous even to the weaknesses that some fall, the bishop is not a master, ruler, or manager, but he is an administrator, and administers spiritual parenthood that contains, loves, prolongs self, pity, covers, and appoints. Father Bishop’s skills and varied talents are good, But they all take second place, fatherhood comes first, and is reached and felt by everyone whether in the monastery of a monastery or a bishop of a monastery, or anyone in his diocese, and also must be firm but fatherly as well.
2 – A repository of the Holy Word: The people seek from the mouth of the bishop the word of God, teaching, commandment and doctrine, he must be renewed in his reading and knowledge of the Bible, he must present the word before he speaks, he must live the commandment before he speaks it, Father Bishop is a teacher and a mentor, and the word must be used in teaching, discipline and growth Ongoing whether in a monastery or diocese.
3 – Depot for Comprehensive Care: Father Bishop is a patron, serving all sectors of the people without exception, and care must reach all those in need from the weak, the poor, the poor and the needy, and the service of the young and the elderly, women, men and children, the elderly, widows, orphans and the differently abled, and everyone in need should give care in all its forms to be Inclusive, bishop serves every human being and every human being, from social, psychological, spiritual, educational, health and all types of care.
His Holiness recommended the two convicted parents and the four convicted fathers to visit some monasteries and eparchies to gain experience in care.
